Tópicos antijudíos en las Homiliae in Hiezechihelem prophetam de Gregorio Magno

Abstract

El estudio de los tópicos antijudíos en la patrística ha suscitado ricos debates en torno a las causas del antijudaísmo cristiano. En esta presentación se realiza un análisis cuantitativo y cualitativo de las referencias a judíos presentes en las Homiliae in Hiezechihelem de Gregorio Magno con el fin de establecer las motivaciones que llevaron a un obispo moderado en su política frente al judaísmo –tal como se lo observa en el Registrum epistularum– a apelar a topoi de la literatura aduersus Iudaeos. El contraste entre la moderación vislumbrada en el Registrum y la utilización de tópicos antijudíos –no solo en las citadas homilías sino también en otras obras del hombre de Roma– permite, a su vez, enriquecer el debate sobre las raíces de la hostilidad frente a la religión mosaica desplegada por algunos hombres de Iglesia a lo largo del primer milenio.

The study of the anti-Jewish topics in the Patristic has caused rich debates around the reasons of Christian anti-Judaism. In this article we analyze quantitatively and qualitatively the references to Jews in Gregory the Great’s Homiliae in Hiezechihelem in order to establish his motivations. The contrast between the moderation against Jews showed in the Registrum epistularum and the utilization of anti-Jewish topics -not only in the Homiliae in Hiezechihelem but also in other works of Gregory- allows to enrich the debate about the aduersus Iudaeos literature.
