La praxis filosófica como praxis política: Una lectura de 'lo político' en el Fedro de Platón

Abstract

El Fedro de Platón se presenta como un diálogo que versa sobre retórica y erótica. No obstante, el tratamiento platónico de ambos temas deja entrever el entramado político que les da sentido. En este trabajo me ocuparé de leer la crítica platónica a la escritura en clave política, para de esta manera tratar de establecer el carácter histórico del relato platónico. Intentaré mostrar que la crítica a la escritura se enmarca dentro de una operación platónica por legitimar una recuperación de los privilegios de ciertos sectores aristocráticos en el contexto de la democracia ateniense. Este artículo partirá de la ‘différence politique’ como marco teórico, para luego analizar la dimensión de ‘lo político’ en la presentación del relato y la articulación de los elementos del relato de Theuth y Thamus.

Plato’s Phaedrus is presented as a dialogue which deals with rhetoric and erotic. However, Plato’s treatment of both issues suggests the political framework that gives them meaning. In this paper I will deal with the reading of Plato’s critique of writing in political terms, and thus try to establish the historic character of Plato’s story. I will try to show that the criticism of writing is part of a platonic operation in order to legitimize a recovery of privileges of certain aristocratic sectors in the context of Athenian democracy. This paper will start from the ‘différence politique’ as a theoretical framework, and then analyze the dimension of ‘the political’ in the presentation of the story and the articulation of the elements of the story of Theuth and Thamus.
