Imitating Job: A Micro-Ethnographic Comment

Abstract

This brief contribution notes the similarities between an ethnographically attested model of behaviour and the key theme in the biblical book of Job. It also aims to provide an explanation for the permanence of a Jobian model of behavior after more than two millennia in Southern Levant.

Dieser kurze Beitrag gibt die Ähnlichkeiten zwischen einem ethnographisch bezeugten Verhaltensmodell und dem zentralen Thema im biblischen Buch von Hiob an. Es soll auch eine Erklärung für die Dauerhaftigkeit eines Hiob-Verhaltensmodells nach mehr als zwei Jahrtausenden in Süd-Levante geben.

Cette brève contribution note les similitudes entre un modèle de comportement attesté ethnographiquement et le thème central dans le livre biblique de Job. Il vise également à expliquer la permanence d'un modèle de comportement d'accord avec la théologie du livre de Job après plus de deux millénaires dans le Levant méridional.
