La institución de una obra pictórica

Abstract

A través de la noción de la institución, Merleau-Ponty busca desentrañar la lógica que subyace al proceso de creación de una obra de arte. Su modelo es la pintura. Aunque es posible afrmar que “un pintor crea su obra”, la lógica de la creación pone de relieve procesos que no deben ser simplifcados. Los objetivos del presente trabajo son: (1) indagar esa lógica subterránea que Merleau-Ponty descubre a partir de sus propias lecturas, y (2) examinar el cruce entre la institución de una obra en la historia personal de un pintor y la institución de un estilo en la historia pública del arte.

Throughout the notion of institution, Merleau-Ponty seeks to reveal the logic that underlies the process of creating a work of art. His model is the art of painting. Although it is possible to affrm that “a painter creates their work”, the logic of creation highlights processes that should not be simplifed. The aims of this paper are: (1) to investigate this hidden logic that Merleau-Ponty discovers from his own readings, and (2) to examine the crossing between the institution of a work in the personal history of a painter and the institution of a style in public history of art.
