Historiografía, educación e Ilustración en la Monarquía hispánica. Un estado de la cuestión sobre la Educación en el siglo XVIII español

Abstract

La construcción histórica sobre la educación española durante el siglo ilustrado ha tenido una intensa producción historiográfica que muchas veces fue de la mano de los estudios acerca de la Ilustración. En los últimos años nuevos planteos han intensificado las investigaciones que se desarrollaron sobre el tema, tanto dentro como fuera de la península. Esta intensa producción historiográfica hace necesario un estado de la cuestión que reflexione sobre la historiografía española en torno al tema de la educación durante un periodo por demás interesante como el siglo de la Ilustración. El presente trabajo tiene por fin analizar la producción historiográfica sobre la educación en el siglo XVIII en la Monarquía hispánica. El artículo no pretende dar cuenta de toda la producción histórica pero si analizar las principales líneas de estudio que se han desarrollado sobre esta problemática. Incorporamos un apartado en el que estudiamos las principales líneas de investigación sobre la Ilustración española a fin de comprender mejor la producción sobre la educación, entendiendo que muchas veces ambas producciones fueron de la mano y tendieron a identificarse.

The historical accounts of Spanish education during the Enlightment have given rise to a picture linking political and social circumstances. In the past few years, new approaches have intensified research on the subject, both inside and outside the Iberian Peninsula. This development of the historiographical account of Education in such an interesting period calls for a thorough discussion on the current situation. The present work aims to analyze the historical accounts Spanish education in eighteenth-century Spain. We argue that this was a space of convergence between two research fields: History and Educational Sciences. In this sense, this analysis seeks to interweave both fields in description of the historical context that frames the historical-educational production of that period. The article is not intended to give an account of the whole historical production of the period, but to analyze the main lines of study that have been developed on this topic, mostly those that somehow were significant for the later development of the field as the origin of historiographic schools or by their becoming a key reference for future studies.
