Infancias deficientes y anormales: Iniciativas psiquiátrico-pedagógicas entre la academia, la beneficencia y el estado en Rosario, Argentina (1920-1940)

Abstract

El artículo indaga las iniciativas médico-pedagógicas promovidas por el psiquiatra italiano Lanfranco Ciampi para el tratamiento de los niños deficientes en la ciudad de Rosario, Argentina, durante el período de entreguerras. Pretende analizar la circulación de la propuesta de Sante de Sanctis, y la deriva social y material de estas ideas sobre la anormalidad infantil en esta ciudad, a partir de la constitución de un dispositivo de atención, enseñanza y clínica al crearse la Universidad Nacional del Litoral. A través de un análisis cualitativo de fuentes institucionales, el trabajo intentará mostrar la imbricación entre saberes y práctica, en especial considerando -más allá de las producciones teóricas- las instituciones y los actores involucrados que permitieron llevarlas a cabo. Concluimos observando la incorporación de la educación especial y la ortofonía a la esfera educativa del Estado provincial a principios de los años cuarenta.

The article focuses on the medical and educational initiatives promoted by the Italian psychiatrist Lanfranco Ciampi to treat the “abnormal” or deficient children in the city of Rosario, Argentina, during the interwar period. It intends to analyse the circulation of Sante de Sanctis’ proposal and the social and material derives of these ideas on child abnormality in this city, due to the constitution of a teaching, health care and clinical dispositive when the local university was created. Through a qualitative analysis of institutional sources, this paper will try to show the imbrication between knowledges and practices, especially considering –beyond theoretical productions- the institutions and actors involved that allowed them to become possible. We conclude noting the incorporation of special education and speech therapy on the educational sphere of the provincial state in the early forties.
