Caracterización del comportamiento reproductivo de machos cabríos mestizos Criollo x Anglo Nubian, en la región sur de Córdoba, Argentina. II. Madurez sexual

Abstract

El objetivo de este trabajo fue caracterizar en la región centro sur de Córdoba, Argentina; el proceso de madurez sexual en machos cabríos mestizos Criollos locales x Anglo Nubian. Se trabajó con 17 machos púberes, nacidos en otoño en un rodeo de la zona. Se los mantuvo a corral, bajo condiciones ambientales naturales. Fueron alimentados con maíz molido y heno de alfalfa, según los requerimientos para dicha categoría y agua ad-libitum. Mensualmente se registraron peso vivo, circunsferencia escrotal, tono testicular y niveles séricos de testosterona. Dos veces por semana se colectó semen con vagina artificial y se evaluaron los eyaculados para determinar madurez sexual según el siguiente criterio: que el semen contuviera en promedio un volumen de 0,4 ml y una concentración de 2000 x 106 espermatozoides/ml con 65 % de motilidad rectilínea progresiva y 75 % de morfología normal, como mínimo. Estadísticamente se realizaron análisis exploratorios de los datos y correlaciones mediante el test de Pearson. Se concluye que en la región sur de Córdoba, Argentina, la pubertad en machos cabríos mestizos Criollo local x Anglo Nubian se inicia en promedio a los 340,82 ± 5,76 días (11 meses) de vida con 34,58 ± 3,10 Kg de peso vivo, 27,04 ± 4,03 cm de circunferencia escrotal, 2,44 ± 0,48 de tono testicular y 2,19 ± 0,27 ng/ml de testosterona y que la edad a la madurez sexual se correlaciona positivamente con el peso vivo, la circunferencia escrotal, el tono testicular y los niveles séricos de testosterona.

The objective of this study was to characterize the sexual maturity process of crossbreed male goats Creole x Anglo Nubian in the southern region of Córdoba, Argentina. We worked with 17 pubertal males born in autumn in a herd from the region. They were maintained in corrals under natural environmental conditions and fed with ground corn and alfalfa hay according to the requirements for that category, with water ad libitum. Body weight, scrotal circumference, testicular tone and plasma testosterone levels were recorded monthly. Semen was collected with artificial vagina twice a week. The ejaculates were evaluated to determine sexual maturity, according the following criteria: semen with a volume of 0.4 ml in average and a concentration of 2000 x 106 spermatozoa/ml, with at least 65 % of progressive motility and 75 % of normal morphology. Data was statistically analyzed by exploratory analysis and Pearson correlation test. In conclusion, sexual maturity of crossbreed male goats Creole x Anglo Nubian age in the southern region of Cordoba, Argentina; occurrs around at 340,82 ± 5,76 days (11 months) of life, with 34,58 ± 3,10 Kg of body weight, 27,04 ± 4,03 cm of scrotal circumference, 2,44 ± 0,48 of testicular tone and 2,19 ± 0,27 ng/ml of testosterone and that age at sexual maturity correlates positively with live weight, scrotal circumference, testicular tone, and serum levels of testosterone
