Populismo entre Argentina y Europa: Sobre la transnacionalización de un concepto

Abstract

Este artículo analiza el uso de la teoría del populismo del filósofo argentino Ernesto Laclau en el debate actual en Europa. En primer lugar, se muestran los orígenes de la teoría de Laclau, que se encuentran en las interpretaciones sobre la política argentina, la modernización e integración de la sociedad y el nacimiento de los movimientos denominados nacionales-populares. Luego, se presentan claves de la discusión europea acerca del concepto para mostrar por qué esta teoría recibe tanta atención en detrimento de otros desarrollos sobre el mismo objeto. De esta forma, abordamos la circulación y transnacionalización de ideas entre América Latina y Europa desde una perspectiva anclada en afinidades y trayectorias sociales concretas.

This article analyses the use of the theory of populism by the Argentine philosopher Ernesto Laclau in the current European debate about this topic. It starts by showing the origins of Laclau’s theory which can be found in the interpretations of Argentine politics, modernization and integration of society and the birth of the so-called national-popular movements. Afterwards some key features of the European discussion about populism are presented in order to show why this theory receives so much attention nowadays, in contrast to other works about the same topic. In this way, we treat the circulation and transnationalization of ideas between Latin America and Europe from a perspective positioned in concrete social affinities and trajectories.
