Poder y violencia en Argentina durante la década de 1960. La trama del atentado al ex presidente Arturo Frondizi

Abstract

En 1964 y en el marco de las tensiones provocadas por la proscripción peronista y la amenaza de retorno de Perón, se produjo en Argentina un frustrado atentado al ex presidente Arturo Frondizi (1958-1962) En su trama se articula el clima de violencia política imperante, tensiones partidarias, entre fracciones políticas y militares y el papel jugado por las organizaciones armadas de inicios de los sesenta y sus vínculos con la dirigencia gremial y la militancia peronista. La interpretación dada al atentado revela la lucha por el poder entablada entre el oficialismo que alegaba una maniobra política del ex presidente en momentos en que la política petrolera de su gestión estaba cuestionada, mientras que el propio Frondizi responsabilizaba al gobierno de Illia por la agresión en la que quedaba involucrada el peronismo proscripto a través de la organización armada Movimiento Nueva Argentina (MNA) y sus dirigentes Dardo Cabo y Américo Rial. La investigación de la Justicia Federal no pudo confirmar una intención homicida ni imputar a los detenidos, pero permite inferir la participación del Movimiento Nueva Argentina, el involucramiento del sindicalismo y la debilidad de las acusaciones de Frondizi y del Movimiento de Intransigencia Radical (MIR).
