En busca de nuevas cartografías para un campo de estudios en consolidación: balance y perspectivas a seis años del informe "Investigaciones sobre juventudes en Argentina: estado del arte en ciencias sociales 1983-2006"

Abstract

En el año 2006 la Dirección Nacional de Juventud (DINAJU), la Universidad Nacional de San Martin (UNSAM) y UNICEF encargaron a Mariana Chaves la elaboración de un informe sobre investigaciones en juventudes en Argentina para acompañar la presentación de un proyecto de relevamiento nacional sobre juventud bajo la dirección de Eleonor Faur. Dicho estudio finalmente no se llevó a cabo pero varios de los pasos previos necesarios dieron sus frutos, entre ellos el informe titulado “Investigaciones sobre juventudes en Argentina: estado del arte en ciencias sociales 1983-2006” (Chaves, 2009). Este informe se ha convertido en una referencia como estado del arte para el campo en relación al período del cual se ocupó. En el intento de dar continuidad a la sistematización realizada en aquel entonces presentamos en este artículo un plan, y algunos resultados, de un balance sobre dicho informe. El objetivo es revisar y ampliar los datos recabados pudiendo dar cuenta –aunque sea en términos de indicios-, tanto del periodo previo a 1983 (hemos encontrado materiales hasta la década del treinta), como del posterior a 2006, así como examinar las omisiones realizadas en aquella versión y las críticas recibidas en estos años que aportan a completar el informe. Además nos interesa establecer relaciones entre el desarrollo del campo de estudios en juventudes y las transformaciones del sistema universitario y científico, ya que creemos que esta lectura histórica y de políticas públicas contiene elementos para la comprensión de la consolidación del campo y sus perspectivas futuras.

In 2006 Mariana Chaves was required by The National Direction of Youth (DINAJU), The National University of San Martin (UNSAM) and UNICEF to develop a research report on youth in Argentina to go along with the presentation of a national youth survey under Eleonor Faur’s direction. Although the survey was not conducted several previous and required steps were successfully performed including the report "Research on youth in Argentina: state of the art in social sciences 1983-2006" (Chaves, 2009). This report has become a point of reference for the field of youth studies at the investigated period. In an attempt to continue the systematization made we present in this article a plan and some results as well as a balance of the report. We attempt to review and enlarge the data collected to take into account not only the period previous 1983 (since we have found materials from the thirties), but also the period post-2006. In order to complete the report we also attempt to examine the omissions made in it as well as the critics received over the past years. It is of our interest to establish relationships between the development of the field of youth studies with the transformations of the university and scientific system; since we believe that this historical reading and its consideration of public policy contains elements for the future understanding and consolidation of the field.
