Otro catolicismo posible: institución, dios y agentes católicos en las experiencias biográficas de las fieles

Abstract

El artículo indaga en las carreras religiosas de los adherentes a un movimiento católico carismático de Argentina con miras a evidenciar el vínculo que los actores tejen activamente con el credo y la institución que afirma representarlo. Para ello, se recurre a tres variables: las representaciones sobre la institución religiosa, las nociones de dios y, por último, las características otorgadas a los agentes institucionales católicos. Sostengo aquí que las concepciones nativas de estas categorías sirven de soporte para la emergencia de nuevas formas de habitar el catolicismo cuyas prácticas y creencias discurren en sentidos opuestos o en tensión a los que la institución eclesial configura. La arquitectura empírica de este trabajo se sostiene en una aproximación etnográfica que abarca el período julio 2009 a abril 2015.

Based on an ethnographic perspective in a charismatic Catholic movement in Argentina, the article approaches the religious careers of its members in order to demonstrate the link that actors actively construct with the creed and the institution that claims to represent it. To do this, it uses three variables: the representations of the religious institution, the notions of God and, finally, the characteristics associated with Catholic institutional agents. I argue here that the native conceptions of these categories are used to support the emergence of new ways of living Catholicism whose practices and beliefs run in opposite directions or in tension which the ecclesiastical institutional configuration. Empirical architecture of this work is based on an ethnographic approach covering the period July 2009 – April 2016.
