Desde la “revolución total” a la democracia Siloísmo, contracultura y política en la historia argentina reciente

Abstract

Este artículo reconstruye una historia del movimiento que, desde la década de 1960 hasta la de 1980, se creó en torno a la figura de Mario Rodríguez Cobos, alias Silo. Este ensayo analiza los núcleos de ideas y prácticas del movimiento Siloísta, los modos en que interpeló a diversas cohortes de activistas y militantes y las reacciones que generó en el espacio político-cultural. Moldeado en la década de 1960, sus núcleos de ideas incluyeron la certeza de que el individuo y la sociedad debían transformarse en un mismo movimiento "libertario" y la crítica a toda institución jerárquica. Esas ideas se conjugaron con una interpretación peculiar de la noción de "liberación", desde la cual el Siloísmo se posicionó en la escena política. Este ensayo sostiene que el Siloísmo formó parte de una "nueva izquierda" que buscaba fórmulas para resolver la tensión entre la formación de nuevas subjetividades individuales y las formas de acción colectiva. Antes de eclipsarse por los efectos de la última dictadura argentina, esa búsqueda se reactualizó en el contexto de la apertura democrática en la década de 1980, cuando el Siloísmo ya era un movimiento transnacional y sirvió de base para la creación, en 1984, del Partido Humanista.

This article reconstructs a history of the movement that, between the 1960s and the 1980s, developed around Mario Rodríguez Cobos, aka Silo. It analyzes the ideas and practices of the Siloist movement, the ways it appealed to successive cohorts of activists and militants, and the reactions it awoke in the politico-cultural arena. Shaped in the 1960s, its ideas included the certainty that the individual and society should change in a unique, "libertarian" movement as well as a critique to all hierarchical institution. Those ideas were combined with a peculiar notion of "liberation," from which the Siloist groups acted upon the political scenario. This article contents that the Siloist movement was part of a "new left" that searched for ways of solving the tensions between the making of new individual subjectivities and modes of collective action. Rather than vanishing during the last military dictatorship, that search was updated in the frame of the democratic opening in the 1980s, when the Siloist movement had become transnational and served as the basis for the creation of the Humanist Party, in 1984.
