Lengua, identidad e integración regional en discursos sobre el español de principios del siglo XXI

Abstract

El propósito de este artículo es analizar, desde el enfoque teórico de la Glotopolítica, la configuración de imaginarios identitarios en discursos sobre el español que tienen lugar a fines del siglo XX y principios del XXI en los Congresos Internacionales de la Lengua Española. Sostenemos que el contexto en el que se inscriben estos encuentros, en particular, los procesos de integración regional, incide en los elementos y recorridos que van delimitando imaginarios que integren a España y a la América hispana, en función de los distintos lugares de enunciación y de las propuestas político-lingüísticas presentadas. Así, se apela a una identidad iberoamericana -que incluye el portugués- pero también a una identidad latinoamericana que resignifica positivamente la región. Para determinar qué sentidos adoptan estos imaginarios a lo largo de los congresos considerados, realizamos un análisis discursivo donde examinamos los entornos lingüísticos de los términos Iberoamérica/iberoamericano y América Latina/latinoamericano en un conjunto de exposiciones.

The purpose of this article is to analyze, from the Glottopolitics’ theoretical framework, the configuration of identity imaginaries in discourses about Spanish that take place at the end of the 20th and beginning of the 21st centuries in the International Congresses of Spanish Language. We maintain that the context of these events, especially the processes of regional integration, has an impact on the elements and trajectories that are delimiting imaginaries that integrate Spain and the Hispanic America, according to different places of enunciation and the language policy proposals. Thus, appealing to an IberoAmerican identity -where Portuguese is included- but also to a Latin-American identity in which the region is positively reinterpreted. In order to determinate the meanings of these imaginaries throughout the congresses in question, we will analyze the ways of designating (Guimarães, 2002; Guimarães & Mollica, 2007) of terms Ibero-America/Ibero-American and Latin America/Latin-American in a set of expositions, that is, how they are discursively constructed in the text, based on the enunciative operations of rewriting and articulation.
