Los orígenes del anarquismo en Colombia y su relación con el liberalismo

Abstract

Este artículo explora la relación entre las ideas anarquistas y el liberalismo en Colombia, a mediados del siglo XIX y en los años veinte del siglo XX, para argumentar que, contrario a lo sostenido por gran parte de la escasa historiografía del anarquismo colombiano, este movimiento surgió en el mismo momento en que se separó del liberalismo. Para apoyar dicha hipótesis, se intenta mostrar que antes de 1924, fecha en que el anarquismo colombiano adquirió cierta definición ideológica y organizativa bajo la lucha anarcosindicalista, las ideas anarquistas y liberales cruzaron sus caminos en el contexto de los discursos heredados de las revoluciones europeas de 1789 y 1848, pero no contribuyeron a la construcción de un movimiento anarquista con coherencia ideológica.

This article explores the relationship between anarchist ideas and liberalism in Colombia in the 1850s and 1920s in order to argue that, contrary to what is claimed by much of the limited historiography of Colombian anarchism, this movement emerged precisely at the time anarchism separated from liberalism. To support this hypothesis, we will try to show that prior to 1924, when Colombian anarchism gained its ideological and organizational definition under the anarcho-syndicalist struggle, anarchist and liberal ideas crossed their path in the context of the legacy rhetoric of the European revolutions of 1789 and 1848, but did not contribute to the construction of an anarchist movement ideologically coherent.
