Diez tesis sobre el kitsch

Abstract

El concepto de kitsch pertenece cabalmente a la estética de principios de siglo XX, aquella que ha encarado el problema de la definición del arte, de sus límites y de sus amenazas. Parece un concepto ya inútil en el siglo XXI de la aparente reconciliación total de todas las expresiones del arte, mientras estén cernidas al así llamado su mundo. En este trabajo buscamos mostrar la potencia aún actual que posee el concepto de kitsch, tensándolo con lo que consideramos que constituye todavía su potencia estético-política.

The concept of kitsch belongs fully to the aesthetics of the early twentieth century, that which has faced the problem of the definition of art, its limits and its threats. It seems an already useless notion in the 21st century when there is an apparent total reconciliation of all art expressions as long as we find them in the so-called artworld. In this paper, we state that the concept of kitsch is still powerful, inasmuch as we focus on the aesthetical-political dimension it evinces.
