Apariencia e ironía en la estética del joven Friedrich Schlegel

Abstract

El trabajo intenta reconstruir la noción de apariencia estética en el período de juventud de Friedrich Schlegel, centrándose en sus escritos Sobre el estudio de poesía griega, los Fragmentos y Conversaciones sobre poesía. Al parecer, dicha noción no puede comprenderse por sí misma en los escritos de Schlegel, ella necesita ponerse en relación a otros conceptos de la estética romántica como la subjetividad, el concepto de modernidad y especialmente la noción de ironía romántica. La apariencia estética, en la obra de Schlegel, podría entenderse en dos momentos que no pierden continuidad, como algunos estudios plantean, gracias a la exigencia de autonomía que esta categoría posee. Para esta tarea apelaremos a los estudios de Peter Szondi, Karl Heinz Bohrer, Jean–Luc Nancy y Lacoue– Labarthe. Intentaremos confrontar tales estudios contemporáneos sobre la apariencia en la obra de Schlegel, a los fines de encontrar elementos que nos permitan delimitar su relación con otras nociones de la estética romántica. Al mismo tiempo, pretendemos valorar los límites de cada una de estas apropiaciones contemporáneas.

The essay tries to reconstruct the notion of aesthetic appearance in the period of early of Friedrich Schlegel, approach on his writings On the study of Greek poetry, the Fragments and Conversations on poetry. Apparently, this notion cannot be understood in itself in the writings of Schlegel, it would need to relate to other concepts of romantic aesthetics such as subjectivity, the concept of modernity and specifically the notion of romantic irony. The aesthetic appearance, in Schlegel’s work, could be understood in two moments that do not lose continuity, as some studies suggest, thanks to the requirement of autonomy that this category has. For this task, we will appeal to the studies of Peter Szondi, Karl Heinz Bohrer and Jean–Luc Nancy and Lacoue–Labarthe. We will effort to confront such contemporary studies on the appearance in Schlegel’s work, in order to find elements that allow us to delimit its relation with other notions of romantic aesthetics. Simultaneously, we attempt to consider the limits of each of these contemporary appropriations.
