Hallazgo de la almeja invasora Corbicula fluminea en el Río Sauce Grande (Provincia de Buenos Aires, Argentina)

Abstract

Se comunica la presencia de la almeja asiática Corbicula fluminea en el Río Sauce Grande, constituyendo el primer registro en la cuenca de los tributarios directos del Océano Atlántico en la Provincia de Buenos Aires (Argentina). Las características de las valvas y el tipo de espermatozoides permiten ubicar a estos ejemplares en el morfotipo A, un clon triploide con reproducción androgenética que ha alcanzado una amplia dispersión en el continente americano. El mecanismo de introducción ha sido probablemente su utilización como carnada por pescadores deportivos.

The presence of the Asiatic clam Corbicula fluminea in Rio Sauce Grande is communicated, this being the first record for the basin of the direct tributaries of the Atlantic Ocean in Buenos Aires province (Argentina). The features of the valves and the sperm type allow the identification of these specimens as belonging to the morphotype A, an androgenetic triploid clone that has achieved an extensive dispersion in the Americas. The introduction mechanism has probably been its use as bait by sport fishermen.
