Arqueología y Educación: trabajo conjunto y fortalecimiento comunitario

Abstract

Desde hace unos años se desarrollan investigaciones arqueológicas en cercanía de Iturbe (Dpto. Humahuaca, Jujuy). A partir de estas experiencias se plantea la necesidad de articular la labor científica con los actores sociales presentes en los contextos comunitarios, así como de contribuir con nueva información sobre el pasado local a través de los resultados de las investigaciones. Se considera que dicha articulación entre la Comunidad Educativa y la Comunidad Científica enriquece mutuamente tanto el trabajo de la arqueología como el ámbito educativo local. En este sentido, se presenta el trabajo realizado en conjunto entre el equipo de investigación y las autoridades, docentes y alumnos de la Escuela Nº 239 “Daniel Domínguez” en Iturbe. Para ello, inicialmente, se diseñaron cuadernillos didácticos conteniendo información general sobre la arqueología y sobre los estudios en la zona incluyendo ejercicios para los alumnos y preguntas disparadoras para debatir en el aula. Asimismo, se realizaron charlas con alumnos y docentes y visitas al sitio Antumpa orientadas a conocer las tareas de investigación. También se facilitaron recursos a la biblioteca escolar y material gráfico (posters y folletería) para consulta. Finalmente, la institución escolar pudo resignificar los conocimientos producidos, los cuales fueron incorporados a la oferta educativa. Se espera que la continuación del trabajo conjunto contribuya tanto a diversificar el conocimiento como a ayudar a la Escuela a tomar un rol de resguardo y fortalecimiento de las voces de los actores locales sobre sus propias historias y sobre el pasado regional.

Archaeological investigations are been carried out at the Antumpa archaeological site, close to the town of Iturbe (Humahuaca Department, Jujuy Province). This has led to the need of communicating the results of the research to the local community, as well as to articulate the scientific work with the local actors in different contexts. This articulation between the educational and the scientific communities mutually enriches both the archaeological research and the activities of the local school. In this paper we present the joint work carried out by the archaeological team and the authorities, teachers, and students of the local school Nº239 “Daniel Domínguez” in Iturbe. These activities include the design of didactic booklets containing general information about archaeology and archaeological research in the area, as well as practical activities for the students and guidelines for class discussions. Lectures and presentations for teachers and students were also carried out, as well as guided visits to the Antumpa site during the archaeological excavations. Graphic and written materials –posters and brochures– were also made available to the school library for permanent reference. Finally, the school was able to reinterpret the scientific information, which was incorporated into the educative offer. It is hoped that the continuation of the joint work will contribute both to diversify the produced knowledge, as well as to support the school in taking an active role in the protection and strengthening of the local voices about their own local history and the regional past.
