Los primeros congresos del partido socialista argentino (1896-1908): Consideraciones para un análisis social y político

Abstract

Carecemos aún de una producción historiográfica apropiada sobre la historia política de los congresos del Partido Socialista, más allá de un conjunto de trabajos editados por el propio partido a principios del siglo XX. En la medida que se trata de obras editadas por el propio PS, estas ocultan más de lo que revelan sobre las tensiones y debates internos que atravesaba la vida partidaria. Se hace necesario, por lo tanto, superar este tipo de trabajos y elaborar una historia social y política del partido, que esté a la altura de la que ya existe para otros partidos socialdemócratas de la época. El objetivo de este artículo es aportar algunas consideraciones metodológicas y una serie de primeras aproximaciones, sobre la base de un análisis de los primeros congresos partidarios, que puedan contribuir a la necesaria actualización historiográfica que el área requiere. Señalaremos, asimismo, diferentes líneas en torno a las cuales entendemos que puede continuarse la investigación.

We still lack a proper historiographical approach on the political history of the Socialist Party congresses, apart from a set of works edited by the party itself in the early twentieth century. To the extent that these books are edited by the PS itself, they conceal more than they reveal about the tensions and internal debates that were common in party life. It is necessary, therefore, to overcome these shortcomings and develop a social and political history of the party that would equal what has been done for other social democratic parties of the period. The aim of this article is to provide some methodological considerations and a series of first approximations based on an analysis of the early years of party congresses, which could contribute to the essential historiographic revision that is required in this area. Other lines for further research will also be suggested.
