Suburbios Seculares: La expansión en el municipio de Yerba Buena (Tucumán 1898-1998)

Abstract

El artículo parte del interés por la evolución del área suburbana de Yerba Buena en Tucumán, que se inicia en los últimos años del siglo XIX y se consolida a fines del siglo XX. Para entender la transformación mediante la cual este territorio ha cambiado su papel de espacio rural a espacio suburbano, se explora el crecimiento en ese sector durante el siglo XX desde la problemática del proceso de suburbanización y a partir de la noción de “urbanización a retazos”. En este contexto, y desde una perspectiva histórica, precisar cómo se fue gene­rando el suburbio es uno de los cuestionamientos que se plantean. Se pretende, por lo tanto, efectuar un aporte al conocimiento de los bordes del territorio metropolitano tucumano, con el foco en la expansión por extensión y por densificación con las características de un paisaje urbano de suburbio jardín en el municipio de Yerba Buena.

The article results from the interest in the process of conformation of the suburban area of Yerba Buena in Tucumán, which started in the last years of the 19th century and was consolidated by the end of the 20th century. To understand the transformation through which this territory has changed its role from rural space to suburban space, it explores the growth in that sector during the twentieth century, from the point of view of the process of suburbanization and based on the notion of “patch urbanization”. In this context, and from a historical perspective, it is intended to make a contribution to the knowledge of the edges of the metropolitan territory of Tucumán, focusing on the expansion by extension and by densification with the characteristics of an urban landscape of garden suburb in the municipality of Yerba Buena.
