New Age, salud y educación. Confluencia y divergencia de posiciones

Abstract

Este artículo registra algunas de las respuestas que se generan en los campos de la salud y la educación cuando son interpelados desde la New Age. Estas creencias se enfrentan con las posiciones cientificistas de la medicina oficial, pero no son tan distantes a las perspectivas educacionales: la noción de espiritualidad se integra con poca resistencia en las prácticas escolares. En este análisis, comparo y tipifico las respuestas que provienen de los ámbitos de la salud y la educación a las prácticas de raíz religiosa New Age. Mi investigación se basa en etnografías y observaciones participantes. En esta etapa, realicé también entrevistas a usuarios, terapeutas, médicos y profesores de yoga en las escuelas. Para la revisión de las polémicas y posicionamientos de las instituciones recurrí al análisis de debates on line, materiales informativos y de divulgación de asociaciones y organizaciones

This article examines some of the responses generated in the fields of health and education when they are questioning from the New Age. These beliefs are confronted with the scientific position of official medicine, but they are not so distant from educational perspectives: the notion of spirituality is integrated with little resistance in school practices. In this analysis, I compare and typify the answers that come from the areas of health and education, to the practices with New Age religious roots. My research is founded on ethnographies and participant observations. I did also interviews to users, therapists, doctors and teachers of yoga at schools. For the revision of polemics and positioning of institutions I turned to the analysis of online discussions and informative brochures of different associations and organizations
