Abstract

Este documento consiste en una carta oficial enviada por el Coronel Lorenzo Vintter al militar Benjamin Victorica. Comenta la llegada de Lino Osiris de Roa a las regiones de la actual provincia de Chubut, en el marco de la campaña de este último y la búsqueda de los caciques Sayhueque e Inacayal. Es interesante destacar los datos que la carta brinda sobre la preocupación de someter a los últimos “indios” que no se habían entregado y que participaron en la batalla de Apeleg en febrero de 1883, sumado al detalle de los intercambios que siguieron efectuando los nativos con comerciantes y otros grupos, factor que retrasaba el sometimiento por su movilidad constante a ambos lados de la cordillera y hacia el sur.

This document is an official letter sent by Colonel Lorenzo Vintter to the military officer Benjamin Victorica. It reports Lino Osiris de Roa’s arrival to the region of the present province of Chubut, in the context of the campaign led by the latter, during the search for the Chiefs Sayhueque and Inacayal. It is worth noticing the document provides information about the concern on subduing the last "Indians", who had participated in the Battle of Apeleg in February 1883 and had not surrendered yet. In addition, the document gives details on the exchange the natives kept with merchants and other groups, while delaying their submission due to their constant movement on both sides of the Andes and towards the south.
