Sistemas de Información Geográfica y desnutrición infantil en el Norte Grande Argentino

Abstract

En este trabajo, por un lado, se pretendió detectar las ventajas de una herramienta como los sistemas de información geográfica y su aplicación en el estudio de la desnutrición infantil; por otro lado, se intentó brindar conocimiento sobre la distribución espacial de la desnutrición infantil en el caso del territorio del Norte Argentino, el área más pobre del país según distintas variables socioeconómicas, durante la transición del siglo XX al siglo XXI.<br />Este enfoque, que denominamos extremo porque considera solo los casos de muertes de menores de cinco años que llegaron a ser registrados por el sistema estadístico, permitió detectar y localizar los núcleos duros de desnutrición. Finalmente, se elaboró un Índice de Riesgo Nutricional, el cual, además de avalar los núcleos detectados, incluyó nuevas jurisdicciones dentro de la problemática.

Th is study, firstly, aimed identify the advantages of a tool such as geographic information systems and its application in the study of child malnutrition. On the other hand, it tried to provide knowledge about the spatial distribution of child malnutrition in the Northern Territory case of Argentina, the poorest area of the country according to di erent socio-economic variables, during the transition from twentieth century to twenty-first century. is approach, we call extreme since it considers only cases of deaths of children under five years who came to register for the statistical system, allowed to detect and locate the hards nucleus of malnutrition. Finally, we developed a Nutritional Risk Index, which also detected the nuclei of endorsing new jurisdictions included in the problem.
