La operación Obras completas. Manuel Mujica Lainez y una consagración truncada

Abstract

Este trabajo estudia la edición de las Obras completas (1978- 1983) de Manuel Mujica Lainez como operación de consagración dentro del campo cultural argentino. Con este fin, el artículo indaga en el modo y en el contenido del material reunido, así como en los criterios de compilación que orientaron el proyecto. Tales modalidades son cruzadas con los procesos políticos y culturales que atravesaron la circulación de estos libros y la trayectoria del escritor. A partir de este análisis, se advierten distintas maniobras dentro de las Obras completas para construir una figura literaria consagrada. Entre ellas, se advierte que las Obras reúnen los textos de Mujica que lo destacan como narrador, poeta, ensayista y traductor. This paper studies the edition of Manuel Mujica Lainez's Complete works (1978- 1983) and the operation of consecration into the Argentine cultural field. For this purpose, the article investigates the modality and the content of collected material as well as compilation criteria that guided the project. Such way is studied through political and cultural processes that crossed the books' circulation and writer's trajectory. From this analysis, this work researches some moves within the Complete Works. Among them, the Complete works highlights Mujica Lainez as storyteller, poet, essayist and translator. At the same time, minimizes and displaces other features of Mujica Lainez: the long journalistic career, their large private and social writings, speeches and political participations, rich worldly life. These aspects, however, appeared in other sundries themes books published while Works. Finally, this article examines the interruption plan edition of the Complete works after the author's death (1984) and the sociocultural meaning it acquires for the contemporary reader.
