Los itinerarios de Catalina Allen y Carolina Muzilli: Cuestión de género y referencias de clase, en la prensa argentina (1890-1920)

Abstract

En el presente trabajo expondremos algunas ideas e hipótesis a partir del análisis de la relación entre cuestión de género, referencias de clase y prensa, en el período que comprende desde finales del siglo XIX hasta las primeras décadas del siglo XX en Buenos Aires. El análisis recupera los itinerarios de dos mujeres destacadas en el debate público de la época; se trata de Catalina Allen y Carolina Muzilli, ambas responsables de publicaciones periódicas dedicadas a las mujeres. Buscamos con este trabajo narrar otro perfil del espacio social de la época, aparentemente hegemonizado por la presencia masculina, a partir de la irrupción de mujeres cuya personalidad y trayectoria marcaron una grieta en la escena local, criticando y/o reforzando imaginarios acerca del lugar de la mujer y de lo ‘femenino’.

In the present work we will present some ideas and hypotheses based on the analysis of the relationship between gender, class and press references, in the period from the late nineteenth century to the first decades of the twentieth century in Buenos Aires. The analysis recovers the itineraries of two outstanding women in the public debate at that time; They are Catalina Allen and Carolina Muzilli, both responsible for periodical publications dedicated to women. In this work we intend to consider another profile of the social space of the time, apparently hegemonized by the male presence, from the emergence of women whose personality and career marked a crack in the local scene, criticizing and / or reinforcing imaginary about the place of women and the 'feminine'.
