Informe sobre los artefactos líticos del sitio La Marcelina 1. Provincia de Río Negro

Abstract

El sitio La Marcelina 1 se ubica en el paraje homónimo, localidad de Paso Flores, Prov. de Río Negro. Parte de sus sedimentos fueron removidos por aficionados, razón por la cual las investigaciones se realizaron en un marco de rescate arqueológico.La muestra analizada presenta artefactos líticos procedentes de los testigos que fueron excavados en sucesivas campañas fuera del área afectada por el pozo preexistente.Las puntas de proyectil no son muy numerosas pero son de muy buena calidad de talla. Hay artefactos de molienda y varios de ellos tienen adherencias de pigmento. Se halló una pequeña placa grabada de unos 5 cm con incisiones en forma de banda zigzag. En el sitio se desarrollaron actividades multiples

La Marcelina 1 archaeological site, located at Paso Flores, Río Negro Province, provided a wide collection of stone artifacts. Part of its sediments were removed by amateur archaeologists, for this reason the investigations were conducted in an archeology rescue framework. This report presents data on lithic artifacts from witnesses that were excavated in successive campaigns, outside the area affected by pre-existing hole. Most of the artifacts were made on volcanites from the Paso Limay quarry. Although the amount of projectile points recovered is not very significant, its knapping quality is very high. Grinding tools, most of them with pigment remains, were collected. Moreover, during the cleaning of the removed sediment an engraved plaque, about 5 cm having shaped incisions zigzag bands, was found. Instruments and debris suggest that many activities were developed near or in the site: knapping, hunting as well as food, pigments and leather processing.
