Retórica e identidad: el episodio del centurión de Cafarnaún en la Literatura Evangélica

Abstract

Los Evangelios contienen episodios interesantes para analizar a fin de observar los conflictos organizativos de las primeras comunidades cristianas en Oriente. En el periodo posterior a la guerra judía, las identidades cristianas buscaron definirse en medio de tensiones y debates con el judaísmo rabínico. En este trabajo proponemos ver algunos aspectos de este proceso a partir del análisis del relato del centurión de Cafarnaún y su esclavo enfermo. Los evangelistas enfrentan a Jesús con un gentil que realiza una interesante defensa del concepto de obediencia vinculándolo con la fe. Las variantes redaccionales nos permitirán analizar los intereses retóricos de estas comunidades, sus proyectos organizativos y sus perspectivas sobre el imperio.

The Gospels contain interesting episodes to analyse in order to observe the organizational conflicts of the first Christian communities in Orient. In the aftermath of the Jewish War, the Christian identities sought a definition amid tensions and debates with rabbinic Judaism. In this paper we propose to see some aspects of this process from the analysis of the account of the centurion of Capernaum and his sick slave. The evangelists confront Jesus with a gentile who performs an interesting defence of the concept of obedience by linking it with faith. The variants in writing will allow us to analyse the rhetorical interest of these communities, their organizational projects and their perspectives about the empire.
