Voluntad de verdad y sentido común: una mirada Deleuziana sobre Foucault

Abstract

En el presente trabajo nos proponemos explorar las críticas de Michel Foucault y Gilles Deleuze a la concepción de la verdad según la cual habría una adecuación o continuidad entre objeto y sujeto de conocimiento. Pensadores franceses de la misma generación, ambos realizaron una novedosa lectura de Nietzsche centrándose en su crítica a la voluntad de verdad. Nos detendremos, en este sentido, en el desmontaje llevado a cabo por Foucault del dictum aristotélico según el cual todos los hombres desean por naturaleza conocer, procurando deshacer de este modo la ligazón “natural” entre voluntad y verdad. Sostendremos que el abordaje de Deleuze resulta complementario al de Foucault, al señalar la conexión entre el postulado de la voluntad de verdad como connatural al hombre y el supuesto del sentido común como uso concordante de las facultades, rompiendo de este modo con la unidad del sujeto. Por último, exploraremos la lectura que Deleuze realiza de Foucault, donde su concepción de la irreductible heterogeneidad entre las facultades puede reencontrarse llevada al plano de lo visible y lo enunciable.

This paper aims to explore Michel Foucault and Gilles Deleuze’s critical views towards the conception of truth according to which there would be an adequacy or continuity between subject and object of knowledge. French thinkers of same generation, they have both contributed to a novel reading of Nietzsche focusing on his critique of the will of truth. We will then review the dismantling carried forward by Foucault of the Aristotelian dictum according to which all men by nature desire to know, attempting to undo the “natural” bond between will and truth. We will argue that Deleuze’s approach is complementary to that of Foucault, since he points out the connection between the postulate of the will of truth as inherent to mankind, on one hand, and the assumption of common sense as a concordant use of the faculties, on the other, thus breaking the alleged unity of the subject. Finally, we shall explore Deleuze’s reading of Foucault, where we will reencounter his conception of an irreducible heterogeneity between the faculties taken to the plane of the visible and the sayable.
