Memorias sobre la Universidad de Buenos Aires durante el primer peronismo (1946-1955)

Abstract

En las memorias construidas por la comunidad científica argentina sobre su propio pasado, y más específicamente sobre la vida universitaria bajo el gobierno peronista de 1946-1955, es posible encontrar dos tipos de memoria: una que pertenece al grupo, es consensual, extremadamente crítica y estereotipada; y otra, de carácter individual, de más difícil acceso, en la que la experiencia personal del testimoniante permite al historiador recuperar aquellos elementos silenciados en pos de la posición consensuada por el grupo. De esta manera es posible discutir la imagen construida sobre el régimen peronista como una "edad oscura" en la historia de las ciencias en Argentina. La imagen que surge de estos testimonios, en cambio, es una de mucha más complejidad y de mayor riqueza para el estudio académico. La recuperación de estos elementos, por otra parte, no sólo abre nuevas posibilidades de investigación para la Historia de las Ciencias, sino que también ofrece un interesante caso de estudio sobre los mecanismos que operan en la construcción de la identidad grupal, y específicamente en lo referido a las políticas de la memoria.

In the memories constructed by the argentinian cientific community about it´s own past, and more specific about the university under the peronist goverment of 1946­1955, is possible to find two kinds of memories: one that belongs to the group, is consensual, extremely critic and stereotyped; the other, individual, of harder access, in wich personal experience allows the historian to recover those elements that were silenced in favor of the consentual group position. The present study works with the hypothesis that the memory of the experience of university’s life during the first peronism is part of the construction of the identity of a scientific community that self defines itself in opposition to the values it adjudicates to peronism. By these means it is possible to discuss the image of the peronist regime as a “dark ages” in the history of the sciences in Argentina and, more specifically, in the history of the Universidad de Buenos Aires. The image that stands out of these testimonies, instead, is one much more complex and richer for academic study. The recovery of those elements not only opens new possible lines of research for the History of Sciences, it also offers an interesting case for the study of the mechanisms that operate in the construction of a grupal identity, in regards to the politics of memory.
