Movimientos sociales y ciudadanía: notas sobre la ambivalencia ante el espejo de lo colectivo

Abstract

Este trabajo busca explorar las articulaciones entre las experiencias de las mujeres y los movimientos sociales de mujeres y feministas en América Latina y el Caribe como lugar donde tramitar las propias demandas transitando de lo personal a lo político, de lo individual a lo colectivo. Desde la perspectiva asumida en este trabajo el movimiento de mujeres y feministas es un espejo donde, por una parte, nos constituimos como sujetos colectivos de acción política, y por la otra ponemos en el espacio público asuntos considerados habitualmente como indignos de debate en el espacio público. Las demandas que las mujeres y feministas colocamos en el espacio público conmueven la noción misma de espacio público, de ciudadanía, representación, igualdad, y de modo singular, la de fraternidad. La dificultad reside en la tensión entre lo personal y lo político, entre la morosidad en las transformaciones subjetivas, que a menudo producen la ilusión de que, en lo referido a los asuntos fundamentales (la sexualidad, el amor, la violencia) nos hallamos ante la repetición de lo mismo, y las condiciones históricas y sociales, donde se juegan, bajo condiciones histórica y socialmente determinadas, los conflictos de clase, la subalternización racista y la dominación patriarcal ejercida sobre las mujeres. Esta peculiaridad en cuanto a la articulación entre sujeto político y sujeto individual hace particularmente útiles algunas herramientas conceptuales procedentes del campo del psicoanálisis, a saber: la idea de ambivalencia, y la apelación a la noción lacaniana de espejo.

This article aims to explore the connection between women’s own experiences and women and feminist movements in Latin America and the Caribbean as a place where women can transact their requests moving from the individual to the collective, from the personal to the political. In our perspective, the women and feminist movements are a mirror where, from one side, we constitute ourselves as collective subjects of a political action and, on the other side, we place on the public space affairs which are usually considered not to deserve public debate. The demands that women and feminists place in the public space affects the notion of citizenship, representation, equality, shakes the notions of public space itself and in a singular way the one of brotherhood /sisterhood. We can identify an obstacle on the view of the subjectivity that often produces the illusion that on the fundamental subjects (for feminist movement): sexuality, love, violence, we were before the eternal repetition of the same: outside of society and historical conditions of existence. The difficulty lays on the tension between the personnel and the politic, between the slowness in the subjective transformations and the social conditions of existence, the forms of the class struggle, the ways of racist subordination and the patriarchal domination on women. We identify an obstacle on the view of the subjectivity that often produces the illusion that on the fundamental subjects: sexuality, love, violence, we stand in front of the eternal repetition of the same, outside of society and historical conditions of existence. Some key concepts borrowed from the field of psychoanalysis, namely the idea of ambivalence, and the appeal to the lacanian notion of mirror, provide a useful tool in better understanding the particular link between individual and politics.
