Abstract

This publication provides a catalog of all extant species of New World Ceratopogonidae south of the United States of America. Full citation, stage(s) described in the original descriptions, country from which the type originated, synonyms, and distribu­tion of each species are furnished. References to the most recent taxonomic work(s) on each genus and subgenus are provided. A list of taxonomic publications which pertain to specific areas within the region summarizes works of local importance. A table provides the number of species found in each genus. Full refer­ences are given and the work is indexed.
