El Monstruo Grande Sigue Pisando Fuerte. Metáforas Para Pensar Las Transformaciones Sociales

Abstract

Retomando una ponencia anterior, este artículo se pregunta por las rupturas y continuidades producidas dentro del campo de la comunicación, el desarrollo y el cambio social. Se indagan las metáforas de las transformaciones sociales, entendidas como formas de representación, que han prevalecido en textos académicos por medio siglo. Las mismas conllevan nociones de comunicación e inciden en las prácticas llevadas a cabo por los profesionales que trabajan desde esta perspectiva. Por ello, el texto invita a pensar si las construcciones utilizadas en este campo, fundamentalmente bélicas y mercantiles, han sido las más apropiadas para lograr cambios resultantes de procesos colectivos y horizontales.

Returning to a previous paper, this article asks for the ruptures and continuities produced within the field of communication, development and social change. Metaphors of social change, understood as forms of representation, that have prevailed in academic texts for half a century are investigated. They involve notions of communication and influence the practices carried out by professionals working from this perspective. Therefore, the text invites us to think whether the constructs used in this field, mainly military and commercial, have been the most appropriate for changes resulting from collective and horizontal processes.
