Una aproximación al museo en el marco de los momentos de divergencia y convergencia entre arte y cultura de masas

Abstract

Este trabajo intentará repasar de forma preliminar y exploratoria algunas construcciones discursivas que se dieron en torno a la relación entre arte y cultura de masas en un proceso de particular despliegue de la institución museo. Se tratará de leer algunos cambios producidos en el siglo XX y lo que va del siglo XXI en estas instituciones a la luz de los debates centrales que se dieron en el ámbito de la crítica y de la teoría. Para orientar el análisis, tomamos en principio, los cruces entre arte y cultura de masas que convirtieron inicialmente al museo en un lugar de sacralidad para luego desarrollarse paulatinamente como un lugar de convivencia entre arte y productos culturales masificados. En segundo lugar, se tratarán de leer los cambios que genera el estado contemporáneo de la cultura y que darán lugar a una institución museológica que deberá adaptarse a las rutinas culturales mediatizadas. Estas cuestiones las entendemos en el marco de cierta especificidad que define al museo de arte y nos ubica en la lectura de un complejo campo de relaciones de fuerza entre prácticas artísticas, discursos e instituciones

This paper will try to preliminary and exploratory review some discursive constructions that arose from the relationship between Art and Mass Culture in a process where the museum as an institution considerably spread. We will try to interpret some changes that occurred during the XXth and the ongoing XXIst centuries in this institution, in the light of the central debates that took place in the areas of Criticism and Theory. So as to guide the analysis, first we will take into consideration the interactions between Art and Mass Culture, which resulted in the transformation of the museum into a place of sacrality that would later on gradually develop into a place of coexistence between Art and massive cultural products. Secondly, we will try to read the changes the contemporary state of culture generates, leading to a museological institution that will have to adapt its cultural and mediatic routines. These matters are understood within the framework of certain specificity that defines the Art Museum and establishes from where we are to read a complex field of strength relationships among artistic practices, speeches and institutions
