Ejército y Nación. Un estudio sobre las estrategias de inscripción de lo/as oficiales del Ejército Argentino en la comunidad nacional

Abstract

Figuras tales como “reserva moral de la nación” o “salvadores de la patria” dan cuenta no sólo del lugar privilegiado que el ejército mantuvo en su vínculo con la nación sino también de un tipo legítimo de agencia que debía ejercer. Luego del terrorismo de Estado y de la derrota de guerra de Malvinas, en un contexto de pérdida de prestigio y declinación de la elite militar, lo/as oficiales se ven obligados a gestionar las relaciones de reconocimiento mutuo que establecen con la sociedad y la nación de las que son parte. A partir del análisis e interpretación de las representaciones, creencias y valores que lo/as oficiales actualizan en el ejercicio cotidiano de su profesión, el propósito de este trabajo es dar cuenta de los sentidos que, provenientes del pasado pero también sujetos a los cambios y necesidades del presente, enmarcan, alimentan y sostienen un tipo de inscripción de la agencia histórica de la fuerza en la comunidad nacional

Figures such as "moral reserve of the nation" or "saviours of the fatherland" account for not only the privileged place that the army maintained in its bond with the nation but also for the kind of legitimate type of agency that it should exercise. After the state terrorism and the Malvinas War defeat, in a context of declining prestige of the military elite, the officials are forced to manage relationships that establish mutual recognition to the society and the nation of which they are part. Drawing on the analysis and interpretation of the representations, beliefs and values that the officers actualise within the daily exercise of their profession, the purpose of this work is to account for the meanings, that come from the past but are also subject to change and needs of the present, which frame, nurture and sustain a kind of inscription of the historical agency of the army in the national community
