"Nosotros-otros", violencia simbólica y representaciones sociales sobre el migrante internacional. Un análisis en las instituciones educativa y judicial en la Ciudad de Buenos Aires y Gran Buenos Aires

Abstract

El artículo tiene como hipótesis central que los docentes y los miembros del poder judicial construyen representaciones sociales discriminatorias hacia los migrantes internacionales, lo que supone el ejercicio de una violencia simbólica de difícil visibilización, reproduciendo cotidianamente en ambos espacios relaciones de dominación y exclusión. Se analizan los resultados de catorce grupos focales –de ocho a diez integrantes, cada uno- realizados a docentes de escuelas primarias y secundarias, públicas y privadas de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires y la Provincia de Buenos Aires y cuarenta entrevistas efectuadas a miembros del poder judicial del mismo ámbito socio geográfico en el marco de dos proyectos UBACYT, dirigidos por Néstor Cohen y con sede en el Instituto de Investigaciones Gino Germani de la Universidad de Buenos Aires. Este proyecto aborda la cuestión de la interculturalidad focalizándose en las relaciones conflictivas y de poder que pudiesen implicar. A modo de estructurar el análisis de los resultados obtenidos, se definieron tres ejes transversales a los dos campos analizados: inferiorización del "otro" migrante, el "otro" migrante como amenaza-enemigo y el "otro" migrante como invasor. En términos analíticos estos ejes se presentan de modo diferenciado aunque se asume que se encuentran vinculados entre sí y, consecuentemente, tienen como efecto el refuerzo de la condición de vulnerabilidad del migrante internacional.

Central hypothesis of the article is that teachers and members of the judiciary construct discriminatory social representations about international migrants, which involve the exercise of symbolic violence, of difficult visibility, developing daily in both spaces relations of domination and exclusion. We analyze the results of focus groups (of eight to ten members) conducted for teachers in elementary and high schools, public and private in the City of Buenos Aires and the Province of Buenos Aires and forty interviews with members of judiciary of the same geographical scope, in the framework of two projects UBACYT, led by Néstor Cohen and based at the Gino Germani Research Institute of the University of Buenos Aires. This project approaches the question of the interculturality focusing in the conflict relations and the power that they could imply. In order to structure the analysis of the results obtained, we define three transverse axes to the two fields analyzed: inferiority of the "other" migrant, "other" migrant as threat-enemy and the "other" migrant as invader. In analytical terms these axes appear in a differentiated way though we assumed that they are linked between them and, consistently, they have the effect in order to reinforcing the vulnerability of international migrants.
