Resumen
Some polymers are intrinsically responsible for a sensor function; other polymers are made to augment the sensing operation through modification of the polymer by functionalization. Polymeric thin film deposition technology and the design of more active and sensor specific polymers will lead to successful miniature, multiple sensor arrays. A sensor was fabricated for the detection of organic compounds (alcohol, acetone, toluene, xylene) from a polysaccharide gel combined with a chromium pentacarbonyl complex of 5-methyl-3H-1,2-dithiol-3-thione. It was deposited a film on an Ti- Au electrode and then characterised the resistance response. The UV, V and IR irradiation light activates the gel sensors and the results exhibited a procedure for detecting saturated vapour of organic compounds at room temperature.
