Resumen
B. incarum is a species that grows in the Argentine Puna in areassubjected to different types of abiotic stress. Infusion and macerationof the plant are popularly used by Andean communities fortheir antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and digestive properties. Previousstudies in our laboratory demonstrated antimicrobial and antioxidantproperties and semisolid forms for topical use were formulated. The objective of this study was to evaluate the release of theactive principle with antimicrobial and antioxidant activity fromhydrogels containing B. incarum extracts. Samples were taken atdifferent times. The content of total phenolic compounds releasedwas quantified and identified by thin layer chromatography (TLC)and high pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC). Antibiotic andantioxidant activity of the compounds released was demonstratedby bioautographic and autographic methods, respectively. Bioactiveprofiles showed a fairly good release during the first 12 hours. Twoof the bioactive compounds released were identified. The activecompounds of the extract of B. incarum were released from thesemi-solid pharmaceutical preparations developed, which wouldensure their therapeutic effect.
