Género, política y ficción en Fleur de l’air de Gabriela Laperrière

Abstract

En 1900 Gabriela Laperrière publica su primera novela durante un viaje a París con su marido, el reconocido médico y político argentino Emilio R. Coni. Escrita en francés, Fleur de l’air recurre a la ficción para narrar en clave realista las experiencias vividas durante sus primeros años de residencia en la Argentina y criticar a la dirigencia de su tiempo por la crisis político-económica que, desde el crack de 1890, atravesaba el país. Sin haber sido nunca reeditada ni traducida, la novela de Laperrière se presenta en el panorama literario finisecular como un objeto intrigante, que entrecruza y tensiona la biografía de su autora con las políticas de la literatura y las políticas de género que se imponen durante ese periodo de crisis y modernización. Este trabajo se propone indagar una zona apenas explorada de la obra de la reconocida activista feminista-socialista, para analizar las relaciones entre género, política y ficción que se desprenden de esta primera etapa de su trayectoria y redimensionar su lugar en el universo de la literatura argentina.

In 1900 Gabriela Laperrière published her first novel during a trip to Paris with her husband, the renowned Argentine doctor and politician Emilio R. Coni. Written in French, Fleur de l’air uses fiction to narrate in a realistic way the experiences lived during her first years of residence in Argentina and criticize the leadership of her time for the political-economic crisis that, since the crash of 1890, overwhelmed the country. Without ever having been republished or translated, Laperrière’s novel is presented in fin-de-siècle literary panorama as an intriguing object, which intersects and tensions the biography of its author with the politics of literature and the gender politics that were imposed during that period of crisis and modernization. This work aims to investigate a barely explored area of the work of the renowned feminist-socialist activist, to analyze the relationships between gender, politics and fiction that emerge from this first stage of her career and resize her place in the Argentina literary field.
