Resumen
Rehabilitation of upper limb function poses significant challenges in the field of rehabilitation medicine. Among the promising interventions, robotic therapy has demonstrated efficacy in enhancing motor recovery in individuals with motor impairments, including stroke. Robotic upper limb rehabilitation systems and exoskeletons represent innovative devices that facilitate this process. These systems harness robotic technology to aid in the restoration of upper limb motor function, spanning from the shoulder to the fingers. They deliver repetitive, intensive, targeted, and personalized training to enhance motor skills. There is a wide variety of devices available for functional rehabilitation of motor disabilities, and research indicates that robotic devices are comparably effective to traditional therapy in terms of intensity and treatment duration . Exoskeletons, specifically designed to conform to the user’s body, offer mechanical support to enhance mobility and strength. By providing weight-bearing assistance and facilitating movement, they contribute to the recovery and enhancement of arm and hand function in individuals with injuries or disabilities. These devices offer features such as movement assistance, customizable resistance levels, feedback mechanisms, and progress monitoring.
