Procesos represivos y reconfiguración productiva, territorial y social en el sur tucumano (Argentina, 1966-1983)

Abstract

Este artículo examina las transformaciones sociales ocurridas en una franja del piedemonte ubicada al sudoeste de la provincia de Tucumán (Argentina) a partir de dos coyunturas críticas: el cierre de ingenios azucareros por la dictadura autodenominada “Revolución Argentina” (1966-1973) y la política sistemática de desaparición forzada desplegada desde el Operativo Independencia (1975) y profundizada por la última dictadura militar (1976-1983). Desde un enfoque situado, se analizan ambas coyunturas como crisis —en sentido gramsciano— que alteraron radicalmente las formas de vida y reconfiguraron el territorio. La investigación articula estudios previos, análisis de prensa, documentación judicial, entrevistas y fuentes gráficas y cartográficas, con el fin de identificar continuidades y rupturas entre ambos momentos. Se argumenta que, mientras la primera crisis generó resistencias que limitaron las transformaciones, la segunda consolidó, mediante el terror, un nuevo orden económico, social y político.

This article examines the social transformations that took place in a strip of foothills located in the southwest of the province of Tucumán (Argentina) following two critical events: the closure of sugar mills ordered by the dictatorship that called itself the “Argentine Revolution” (1966-1973) and the systematic policy of forced disappearance deployed since Operativo Independencia (1975) and intensified by the last military dictatorship (1976-1983). From a situated perspective, both junctures are analysed as crises –in the Gramscian sense– that radically altered ways of life and reconfigured the territory. The research combines previous studies, press analysis, judicial documentation, interviews, and graphic and cartographic sources to identify continuities and ruptures between the two moments. It argues that while the first crisis generated resistance that limited the deepening of the transformations, the second consolidated, through terror, a new economic, social, and political order.
