Nanofibrous matrices produced by electrospinning have great potential in drug delivery. For a specific successful drug delivery, the chemical, physical, and biological properties of electrospun matrices should be adjusted to match the desired release rate of a particular drug by using a combination of multicomponent compositions, innovative fabrication techniques (e.g., two-component electrospinning and in situ mixing electrospinning) and post-modification methods to functionalize electrospun nanofibrous. In this chapter, materials, techniques and post-modification methods to functionalize electrospun nanofibrous matrices suitable for drug delivery are reviewed.
