This chapter discusses in detail two simulation-oriented bond-graph modelling devices for hybrid systems. They are the Switchable-Structure Bond and the Generalized Switched Junction or, for short, SS-Bond and GSJ. They are extensions of the standard power bond and the 1– and 0– junctions, respectively, allowing to model structural changes in a system and yielding a single bond graph with fixed causality representing all the commutation modes. Besides illustrating their properties with simple examples, some technical applications are addressed. Related results previously presented in the bond-graph literature either as hybrid-, switched or variable-topology systems are reviewed and shown to be representable by these two new formalisms, so that the formers can be considered as special or particular cases of the latter.
