Revisión de literatura y perspectivas recientes sobre el Philopatris atribuido a Pseudo-Luciano

Abstract

El Philopatris (Φιλόπατρις ἢ ∆ιδασκόμενος), usualmente traducido como El patriota o el adoctrinado, es un diálogo satírico antiguamente atribuido a Luciano de Samósata, cuya autoría y cronología aún es tema de discusión. Si bien existe consenso en que esta obra no pertenece a la pluma del samosatense, sino que fue compuesta con posterioridad a la segunda sofística, su datación fluctúa entre siglos tan dispares como el IV y el XI d.C. El estudio más sistemático dedicado a este problema es el de Barry Baldwin (1982). Sin embargo, a partir de entonces, diversos estudios dirigidos parcialmente al mismo asunto contribuyeron, directa o indirectamente, a continuar o renovar la discusión. Esta revisión bibliográfica se propone sistematizar y evaluar las contribuciones más recientes al debate sobre la autoría y datación de este diálogo satírico.

The Philopatris (Φιλόπατρις ἢ Διδασκόμενος), usually translated as The Patriot, or the One Being Taught, is a satirical dialogue formerly attributed to Lucian of Samosata, whose authorship and chronology is still a topic of discussion. Although there is consensus that this work does not belong to the Samosatian’s pen, but was composed after the Second Sophistry, its dating fluctuates between centuries as disparate as the IVth and XIth AD. The most systematic study devoted to this problem is Barry Baldwin’s (1982). However, thereafter, several studies addressed partially to the same issue contributed, either directly or indirectly, to continue or renew the discussion. This bibliographic review intends to systematize and assess the most recent contributions to the debate about the authorship and dating of this satirical dialogue.
