La cámara y el sujeto: sobre el Direct Cinema

Abstract

El siguiente artículo se propone una revisión sobre el cine directo estadounidense y su actitud no intervencionista. A partir del análisis de films y declaraciones de Robert Drew, los hermanos Maysles y Frederick Wiseman se propone demostrar que la idea de la cámara como mero observador de la realidad es más compleja de lo que se ha postulado, centrándose en la influencia del dispositivo sobre el accionar de los sujetos representados.

The following article proposes to revisit the american direct cinema and its non-interventionist attitude. Through the analysis of films and statements of Robert Drew, the brothers Maysles and Frederick Wiseman we’ll try to prove that the idea of the camera as an observer of reality is more complex than it has been postulated, focusing on the influence of the device on the actions of the subjects depicted.
