Resumen
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the most common endocrine disorder in women of reproductive age, affecting between 5% and 10% of women. This syndrome is characterized by endocrine, metabolic, and reproductive alterations. PCOS is associated with excessive androgen production, amenorrhea or oligomenorrhea, reduced fertility, and hypertrophied polycystic ovaries. It can also be linked to metabolic conditions such as obesity, insulin resistance, or dyslipidemia. The aim of this study was to investigate potential ovarian mitochondrial alterations caused by elevated androgen concentrations.
