Formas biográficas y narrativas: Aproximaciones teórico-epistemológicas y expresiones analíticas para el estudio de experiencias de mujeres que transitan cáncer de mama

Abstract

El artículo constituye una reflexión teórica-epistémica y metodológica de las formas biográficas en el marco de una investigación centrada en el tránsito por el cáncer de mama de mujeres residentes en el Área Metropolitana de Buenos Aires promediando la segunda década del Siglo XXI. La pregunta por la experiencia de enfermedad nos llevó a indagar en torno a lo biográfico y su potencial heurístico en el trabajo con narrativas para los estudios socio-antropológicos de la salud. Para ello atendemos al proceso de interlocución con 25 mujeres de sectores populares y medios, de entre 26 y 75 años. Se enfatiza la dimensión social de toda subjetividad, a partir de considerar el carácter dialógico y ético que supone el trabajo con formas biográficas. Asimismo, se reflexiona en torno al proceso de configuración narrativa en la práctica de investigación. Para el análisis empírico recuperamos la capacidad configurativa-temporal y el lugar de quiebre biográfico en el proceso de enfermedad. A su vez atendemos a aspectos que participan y operan en el proceso narrativo como intento de dar cuenta de sí: el momento en el que se realiza la interlocución en vínculo con los tiempos e instancias terapéuticas de la enfermedad; los horizontes de expectativas; los modos de pensar el origen y/o causas del diagnóstico; como el lugar de la vivencia como catalizadora de otros eventos biográficamente significativos.

This article is a theoretical-epistemic and methodological reflection on biographical forms within the framework of a research project focused on the transit through breast cancer of women living in the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires in the second decade of the 21st century. The question of the experience of illness led us to investigate the biographical and its heuristic potential in working with narratives for socioanthropological studies of health. In order to do so, we focused on the process of interlocution with 25 women from popular and middle class sectors, between 26 and 75 years old. We emphasize the social dimension of all subjectivity, considering the dialogical and ethical nature of working with biographical forms. We also reflect on the process of narrative configuration in the research practice. For the empirical analysis, we recover the configurative-temporal capacity and the place of biographical rupture in the illness process. At the same time, we pay attention to aspects that participate and operate in the narrative process as an attempt to give an account of oneself: the moment in which the interlocution takes place in relation to the times and therapeutic instances of the illness; the horizons of expectations; the ways of thinking about the origin and/or causes of the diagnosis; and the place of the experience as a catalyst of other biographically significant events.
