dc.description.abstract
In this chapter we will describe the current understanding of the concept and deriva- tion of pluripotent-derived mesenchymal stem cells (PD-MSCs). The literature has been growing in the past years about these cells, and some publications even argue that these cells are indeed mesenchymal stem/stromal cells. However, MSCs are in fact not a uni- form population: depending on the niche context, bone marrow-derived stem cells are similar or not compared to adipose-derived mesenchymal/stromal cells, a similar paral- lelism may also be applied when comparing adult MSCs with those MSCs derived from PSCs.
