La revolución democrática en el discurso de Hugo Chávez (1999-2002)

Abstract

El trabajo analiza el discurso de Hugo Chávez durante el período 1999-2002. El marco teórico asume una perspectiva transdisciplinaria, que toma como base las herramientas de la teoría del discurso de Ernesto Laclau, complementado con un análisis socio-histórico y politológico. La hipótesis principal afirma que el discurso chavista plantea una revolución democrática e integral. Esta revolución presenta dos innovaciones. En primer lugar, articula de un modo complejo elementos de la concepción participativa y representativa liberal de la democracia. En segundo término, integra los planos económico, social, político, institucional y ético, edificando una ruptura radicalizada con los poderes constituidos.

The paper analyzes the Chavez´s discourse during the period 1999-2002. The theoretical framework takes an interdisciplinary perspective, which draws on the tools of Laclau´s theory of discourse, complemented by a socio-historical and political analysis. The main hyphotesis affirms that Chavez’s speech raises a democratic and integral revolution. This revolution has two innovations. First, articulates in a complex way elements of participative and representative liberal conception of democracy. Second, integrates the economic, social, political, institutional and ethical planes, building a radical rupture with the constitute powers.
