Francisco Suárez y los errores en la práctica científica: docencia e investigación. Una consideración medieval en tiempos renacentistas

Abstract

La presente investigación aborda el parecer de Francisco Suárez sobre la dificultad que supone el ejercicio del conocimiento científico, tal como es expuesto en la Disputación Metafísica IX, II, 5-10. En la referida sección de la Disputación IX el Granadino explica la problemática de la enseñanza y aprendizaje del conocimiento científico acorde con la experiencia y transmisión de saberes, afectados ambos por la posibilidad del error y la falsedad. En derredor de ello, la tesis central de los pasajes seleccionados concierne el juicio científico por medio del cual se pone de manifiesto la real dificultad en el progreso del conocimiento y la necesidad de persistir en la consecución de la verdad. De allí la necesidad de alcanzar certeza y corregir la apariencia de la verdad en evidencia.

This research deals with Francisco Suárez’s view on the difficulty of the exercise of scientific knowledge in Disputationes Metaphysicae IX, II, 5-10. There, the Grenadian explains the problem of teaching and learning scientific knowledge in accordance with the experience and transmission of knowledge, both of which are subject to the possibility of error and falsehood. Around this, the central thesis of the selected passages concerns the scientific judgment through which it is made clear the real difficulty in the progress of knowledge and the need to persist in the pursuit of truth. Hence the necessity of reaching certainty and of correcting the appearance of truth into evidence.
