Primera Aproximación a la arqueología monumental del Sistema Serrano de Ventania, Provincia de Buenos Aires

Abstract

Durante las últimas dos décadas el equipo de investigación ha realizado múltiples investigaciones en el área del Sistema Serrano de Ventania y su llanura adyacente, las cuales permitieron detectar una importante cantidad y diversidad de sitios arqueológicos, entre los que se destacan por su alta visibilidad en el paisaje 34 cuevas con representaciones rupestre y un mínimo de 51 estructuras de piedras y/o piedras paradas. El estudio de este registro arqueológico posibilita la obtención de información sobre las sociedades indígenas que habitaron el área, y permite documentar un patrimonio arqueológico altamente expuesto a la destrucción y por lo tanto en vía de desaparición, como son las cuevas con arte rupestre y las estructuras de piedras y piedras paradas presentes en el Sistema de Ventania. Dada la particularidad del registro, se proponen diferentes hipótesis con respecto a los posibles usos alternativos que habrían tenido en los momentos de ocupación del territorio.

Over the last two decades the research team has carried out research in the area of the system of Ventania and its adjacent plain, which made it possible to detect a significant amount and diversity of archaeological sites, among which are highlighted by his high visibility in the landscape 34 caves with rock performances and a minimum of 51 structures stones and standing stones. The study of the archaeological record makes it possible to obtain information on the indigenous societies that inhabited the area, and allows document an archaeological heritage highly exposed to destruction and therefore towards disappearance, such as the caves with rock art and present in the system of Ventania standing stones and stone structures. Given the particularity of the registry, are proposed different hypotheses regarding the possible alternative uses which would have had at the time of occupation of the territory.
